Gradually, but spinach becomes the favorite of the hostesses in our country. But this culture is known for more than a century. The mention of this plant was found in the book “Nabatey Agriculture”, compiled in Syria in the 4th century.
And in the thirteenth century, spinach first appeared in Europe. At the end of the eighteenth century, this vegetable plant was already known in Russia.
But, unfortunately, it is still grown little and not everyone knows how to prepare something with this useful gift of nature.
Spinach – pantry of vitamins and minerals. Potassium, phosphorus and magnesium are necessary for our body, and the leaves supply these substances to our body.
Spinach is consumed in fresh and fried form. Casseruls, borscht, omelets, gravy are preparing with it. The leaves are frozen, canned and dried.
If you tore the leaves or completely pulled out the bush, then the leaves must be thoroughly rinse. Otherwise, the earth will crunch on the teeth. First, put the leaves in a bowl of water and chat them in water, then wait until the turbidity. Pull the greens and transfer to clean water. Shake the water again and transfer the leaves into a colander. And now rinse under running water. Dry on a paper towel.
Spinach can be saved in the refrigerator. But you can’t put apples or tomatoes nearby. Ethylene, which isolated tomatoes and apples, will accelerate the wilting of young greenery.
If you have been presented with a lot, many spinach, you can freeze it. But it is best to eat spinach leaves fresh. If you have never ate this vegetable plant, start with the simplest recipes.
Spinach salad in early spring
Wash and dry the leaves. Cut them and put in a deep plate. Prepare a gas station: mix half a glass of yogurt with two tablespoons of vegetable oil, add one tablespoon of vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar to taste. Pour spinach leaves, sprinkle with spicy greens of parsley, love of love. Early in the spring, these plants are already turning green on the beds. You can use mayonnaise or sour cream instead of refueling.
In the same salad, you can add grated apples on a coarse grater or jerking ground tubers. Early in the spring of Jerusalem artichoke – the first vegetable that can be dug up immediately after snow gathering.
Spinach leaves can be baked in batter.
Select the largest leaves, wash them thoroughly, dry them out. Prepare a batter of 200 g of flour, 2 eggs and glass of milk. Heat vegetable oil, dip each leaf into the batter and fry in oil.
Spinach in large quantities is contraindicated for people with impaired water metabolism, with kidney diseases and gout. Everyone else needs to eat leaves of this plant must.
